Occupational Health and Safety Management

We would like to thank those hygienists who joined us for this online live broadcast on October 10, 2007. This presentation was offered in cooperation with the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety, www.ccohs.ca and the Canadian Standards Council, www.csa.ca

The Z1000 standard is a tool organizations can use to improve their occupational health and safety performance, acting as a road map to compliance with legal obligations. It was developed with the participation of organized labour, employer and governmental representatives. The standard encourages a more systematic approach to meeting defined occupational health and safety objectives and increasing awareness of health and safety in the workplace.

The webinar was presented by David Zimmerman is a Project Manager for the CSA Technical Committee on OH&S Management for the Canadian Standards Association. He guided participants through the requirements for implementing an OHS Management System within an organization using the Plan–Do–Check–Act methodology as outline in the standard. This same methodology is found in other popular management system standards such as the ISO 9001 and the ISO 14001.

Remember that if you took part in the webinar, for an additional $25, you can obtain a signed and dated Continuing Education certificate from the CCOHS. This certificate can be used as proof of attendance when claiming maintenance credit for the webinar
